Introduction

Caminando Unidos’ Education Project is the central focus of all the activities, the methodology and the philosophy of our organization. The alternative education program sustains itself through non-violence, love and friendship within a community; serving children who have been expelled or have never been admitted into the public education system. In the face of social marginalization, desperation, expulsion and rejection of many youth, we respond with an education that dignifies, validates, esteems, promotes, impels and encourages growth. In the education project, we have created two general areas: preschool and elementary. All students are integrated in some way into these two areas.

Objectives

The objectives presented in the Education Project of Caminando Unidos A.C. depend on the corresponding education levels. Our Educative Project this divided into Maternal, Preschool, and Elementary Levels 1 (Containment), 2 (Alpha), 3 (NOR and NII) and 4 (NIII and NIV).

Maternal and Preschool Program Objective

To integrate into their education the promotion of physical, intellectual and social-emotional development of all children, offering the tools necessary for them to generate their own autonomy.

Primary objective Level 1

Open a space of containment for children who through their conditions in life appear aggressive, with difficulties relating to others and initiating a process of collective learning. This should be done so that each student at their own rate can work together in a group setting.

Primary objective Level 2

To structure a program supported by the system of the INEA so that the children learn to read and write in a period of a year, giving them the opportunity to integrate themselves into the formal system.

Primary objective Level 3 and 4

To help to children that have either been expelled from or have never entered the formal public school system to complete their studies of primaria (elementary school) so that they may return to secundaria (middle school) in the public education system and/or enter the production workshop program at Caminando Unidos.
